Reading the instructions after assembling thefurniture, sounds funny, right?
That is why it is said, some steps just can’t be skipped…unless you're aiming for a comedy show instead of a construction site
So, here we’re enlightening you with everything you needbefore getting your stair installed.
1. First things first, the top and bottom slab must be finished! This is because it is the point where the stair is going to be fixed and to do it right, stair contractors need the exact height from the bottom floor along with the thickness of the slab.
2. You must know the specifications of the finished floor, which include the type of floor (carpet/tiles etc) along with its thickness. This is crucial to keep a constant riser while making it compliant with the Australian Standards. And yes! One more reason! You do not want a staircase that leads to nowhere... or worse, a head bump!
But make sure to install thefinished floor only after the stair has been installed as it will then be possible to hide the bottom and top fixing plate, giving your stair a sleeklook.
3. Movingonto the adjacent walls. You need to know if you are going for drywall orrendering along with its thickness because let’s be honest, having too muchspace on the sides isn’t ideal and you don’t want to end up with steps that arehalfway buried in the wall either.
4. It’srecommended to leave the ceiling unfinished up to at least 400mm aroundthe stair area until after the staircase is installed. Why? Because trying tosqueeze a heavy staircase into place near a finished ceiling is basicallyasking for cracks, chips, or a full-on ceiling disaster. Your ceiling (and yourbudget) will thank you.
5. Insome cases, decide if you want the glass balustrade to be fixed on the side ofsteps or top. The stairs can be offset from the wall accordingly. If you don’t,the treads might be hanging more towards one side.

Thinking Steel stairs might halt your building process?
Not everything we think is right.
There is always an option to get temporary treads installedto help the tradies and even the visitors move across floors.
Also, if superior quality protective packaging material isused, it can shield the stair surface and actually protect it from scratchesand other damage.
To cut to the chase, as soon as the concrete slab is laidand the necessary details are available, stair installation can proceed.
